Engagement photoshoots are an excellent way for couples to capture the excitement and romance of their engagement the final chapter before you begin your married life together. Whether you’re a couple who enjoys taking photos together or not, an engagement photoshoot can help you celebrate your love in a unique and memorable way. If you don’t enjoy having photos taken it’s a great way to get used to having a camera pointed at you and for me to show you that you have nothing at all to worry about. My engagement or pre-wedding shoots are a 90 minute photoshoot at your chosen location. Once your photos are edited they will be sent to you via a gallery link and they are your to download. I will ask you to choose your 20 favourite photos and these will be printed into your guest singing book to be taken to you wedding so your loved ones can write their good wishes for you. Your guest book can be made in the colour of your choice so can be matched to your wedding theme.

So read on for 10 reasons why having a pre-wedding photoshoot may be a good idea for you.

  1. Capture memories- An engagement photoshoot is a great way to capture the special memories of your engagement period. You can look back on these photos for years to come and remember the excitement and romance of this time.
  2. Practice for the wedding day- Having an engagement photoshoot is a great way to practice for your wedding day day. You’ll get to work with me and I can show you how to get comfortable in front of the camera and that you have no need to worry which can help you feel more relaxed and confident on your wedding day.
  3. Get to know your poses- An engagement photoshoot is an opportunity to get to know how you look on a professional camera which is different to the phone selfies you may be used to. I will prompt you with gentle poses that we will use on your wedding day and get to know how comfortable you are and what you have hang-ups about.
  4. Create save-the-dates- You can use your engagement photos to create unique and personalised save-the-dates or wedding invitations to send to your guests. This is a great way to make your invitations stand out and give your guests a glimpse of your personalities and love story.
  5. Wall Art- You can use your engagement photos to decorate your home and create a beautiful and personal display. This is a great way to celebrate your love and create a cosy and romantic atmosphere in your home. You can order wall art directly from your gallery.
  6. Celebrate your relationship- An engagement photoshoot is a celebration of your relationship and the love that you share. It’s a chance to show the world how much you care for each other and how excited you are to spend your lives together.
  7. Create a custom guest album- Your engagement photos will be used to create a custom guests signing book that tells the story of your journey so far. This is a great keepsake that you can look back on for years to come.
  8. Explore new locations- An engagement photoshoot is an opportunity to explore new locations and take photos in places that have special meaning to you. This is a great way to create unique and memorable photos that reflect your personalities and love story.
  9. Share with friends and family- You can share your engagement photos with your friends and family to give them a glimpse of your love story and excitement for the wedding day. Maybe you’ve made a wedding website so everyone can see how you are spending the run up to your wedding day. This is a great way to involve your loved ones in your celebration and build excitement for the big day.
  10. Have fun!- Finally, an engagement photoshoot is a chance to have fun and enjoy the process of celebrating your love. It’s a special time in your lives, and an engagement photoshoot is a wonderful way to commemorate this exciting period.

The first step in planning an engagement photoshoot is to chose a location. Your photoshoot could be a location that holds a special meaning to you both, such as the place where you had your first date or where you got engaged. Alternatively, you can opt for a location that reflects your personalities, such as a park, beach, or cityscape.

Next, you’ll need to decide on your outfits. You can choose to wear formal attire or dress more casually, depending on your preferences and the location of the photoshoot. It’s best to avoid wearing matching outfits or outfits that clash, as this can be distracting in the photos. Instead, choose complementary colours and styles that make you both feel comfortable and confident.

During the photoshoot, I will guide you through different poses and settings to capture a range of images. It’s important that you communicate any particular shots or poses you’d like to try but if you’re happy to leave that to me that absolutely fine. If you have any insecurities or concerns this is the perfect time for us to talk about them and we can allay any fears you may have about your wedding photos. Remember this is a fun and enjoyable experience, and just like your wedding day the best photos often come from natural, candid moments.
