As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, I understand that your wedding day is one of the most significant moments in your life. I believe that your wedding photography should be a beautiful, authentic representation of your story. My goal is to capture the raw emotion and essence of your day, deliver your photos quickly and beautifully edited and then allow you to relive those cherished moments for years to come by providing you with a keepsake wedding album.
My experience has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse range of couples and capture weddings of all sizes and styles. From intimate elopements to grand celebrations, I have the expertise and skill to deliver a timeless and real record of your wedding day through my images.
One of the things that sets me apart from other wedding photographers is my ability to build a connection with my clients. I understand that your wedding day is a deeply personal experience and I strive to make you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. I take the time to get to know you and tailor my approach to suit your style and preferences.
When it comes to capturing your wedding day, my approach is simple: I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible while still capturing every moment. I understand that your wedding day is about you, your partner, and your guests, not the photographer. I will blend into the background, capturing candid moments and real emotions without interrupting the flow of your day. Of course, I am also happy to offer gentle guidance and pose suggestions when needed to ensure that you look your best and will take those all important family and group photographs.
As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, I am fortunate to work in some of the most beautiful locations. From the stunning coastline to the rolling countryside, North Yorkshire offers a diverse range of venues and backdrops for your wedding photography. I am always up for an adventure, and I love nothing more than discovering new locations and unique settings to capture your love story.
In terms of my photography style, I would describe it as one that suits the mood of your wedding. Predominantly a candid photographer who captures the real and unseen moments, I also believe in creating portraits of you both to take pride of place in your wedding album. Gentle posing to show the very best of you as a couple. I am drawn to natural light and use flash to enhance and create the wow photos you will love. I believe that every couple has a unique story to tell, and I aim to capture that story in an authentic and genuine way. My goal is to create images that will stand the test of time, and that you will treasure for years to come.
One of the things that I love most about wedding photography is the opportunity to capture the details that make your day unique. From the carefully chosen flowers to the thoughtful décor, I believe that every detail is an important part of your story. I love to capture these details in a way that reflects the mood and atmosphere of your day and chosen wedding venue.
In addition to my wedding photography services, I also offer engagement sessions. These sessions are a great way for us to get to know each other better and to capture some beautiful images of you and your partner in a more relaxed setting. Engagement sessions also provide an opportunity for you to get comfortable in front of the camera before your big day, making the process feel more natural and enjoyable.
When it comes to delivering your images, I believe in quality over quantity. I personally and carefully curate and edit your images to ensure that each one is of the highest standard. I also believe that your images should be displayed in a way that showcases their beauty and allows you to relive your day. I offer a range of fine art albums, prints, and wall art options to help you preserve and display your memories in a beautiful way.
In conclusion, as a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, my goal is to create beautiful, authentic, and timeless images that tell your unique love story. I am passionate about capturing the raw emotion and essence of your day.
So lets break your wedding story down into chapters and see how it looks from my perspective-
Chapter 1- The Venue

My full day wedding collections begin with my arrival 2 hours before your wedding ceremony. I will start by taking photos of your wedding venue and the surrounding areas. We don’t now how long wedding venues will remain in their current state, buildings change, are expanded and altered so these photos are a permanent record of how the venue you chose looked on this day. I will photograph your ceremony room, no doubt you’ll have taken time to choose chair covers and décor and want to remember these things in the years to come. I will then join you for your prep photos.
Chapter 2- The Preps

This is a very relaxed record of the excitement building as you prepare for the day ahead. Wedding hair and makeup, Prosecco being poured. I don’t stage any of these photos of you and your bridesmaids. I will take your wedding dress somewhere for a photos along with the shoes and any jewellery you’ve decided to wear. An additional photographer may be added if you require preps photographs of you both getting ready. Once you are joined by the registrars I will head over to the ceremony and await your arrival. I will take photos of your guests and, of course, your partner as they wait for you. I’ll be set up for your arrival and for photos of you walking down the aisle.
Chapter 3- The Ceremony

Throughout the ceremony I will remain as unobtrusive as possible. Flash is only used when absolutely necessary. Photos will include your wedding vows, the ring exchange and the all important first kiss. Alongside these lots of special candid moments, glances at each other, sweet little smiles and nervous laughs. Photographers aren’t allowed to photograph the actual singing of the register but we can set this up for you afterwards. Then I’ll take my place ready for your first walk together down the aisle as a married couple. If you’ve chosen to give your guests confetti it’s a great idea to either leave it on their chairs or have one of the groomsmen hand it out as they leave the ceremony. This way we can do both confetti photos and a full wedding party photo straight away.
Chapter 4- The Formals

Photographers will tell you that trying to gather guests up is like herding goldfish so if we do it now, they’re already gathered and it’s quick and easy. In the run up to your wedding day I’ll have sent you a final details form. On this I ask you to write down any group and family photos you’d like. You don’t want to take up a huge chunk of your day taking formal photos. A few are important, your close family members for example, but do try to keep this list down to around 10 – 15 if possible. People hate standing around for photos, and you will too. Once we have these done, quickly and efficiently, I’ll invite you and your guests to head over to where the welcome drinks are being served. I would encourage you to take 15 minutes with your guests as they offer their congratulations to you. They will all want to see you, to tell you how beautiful you look and , of course, they’ll want selfies with the married couple !
Chapter 5- The Portrait Shoot

I pride myself on being able to make even the most camera shy of couples very comfortable, very quickly. If you’re still not convinced then you have the option of booking a pre-wedding photoshoot. It’s a lovely thing to have but you don’t need to. We will take a walk around your venue and I’ll keep stopping you to take photos of you both together and separately. I very quickly read how you are together as a couple, whether you’re hands on and touchy feely or a little more reserved with your public displays of affection. I will guide you and gently pose you so your photos reflect both you and your personalities giving your photos a natural and relaxed look and feel. This special time is not just important for your photos but it’s a chance, in a very busy day, to just take a few minutes to yourselves. You’ll love it, I promise.
Chapter 6 – The Candids

As you re-join your wedding guests I’ll go into sniper mode. This is often the part of the wedding where couples have chosen entertainment for themselves and their guests. Magicians and music are popular as are garden games in the summer months. My long lens comes out and I can keep quite a distance away taking natural photos of the mingling and jollities of the day. Candid wedding photography has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more couples want their wedding photos to be a true reflection of the emotions and events of their special day. My style of photography captures the raw and real moments that make your wedding uniquely you and the “downtimes” of your wedding day are the ideal time for some natural and spontaneous photos.
Chapter 7- The Wedding Breakfast

I’ll have taken photos of your wedding breakfast room prior to the guests entering. You’ve taken a long time choosing your table decorations, the seating plan and the wedding cake so these all deserve special attention and possibly even a page in your wedding album. With your guests invited in and seats taken they’ll be asked to stand and welcome the newly married couple. Most wedding venues now suggest the wedding speeches take place before the meal. For those that don’t particularly enjoy public speaking this gets it done and they can finally relax and enjoy the day. The typical order of speeches is Father of the Bride, The Groom and then a grand finale from the Best Man. However more and more often I’m seeing Mums, bridesmaids and even brides have their say too so don’t feel you have to stick with tradition. It’s your day so do things your way. I’ll be photographing both the speaker and the guests reactions and it’s one of my favourite parts of the day for candid photos. The perfect wedding speech should evoke laughter, tears and warmth from it’s listeners so if I manage to capture those photos I feel like I’ve done my job well. As your meal is served I take my leave. You don’t want photos of people eating, they’re never nice.
Chapter 8- The Portrait Shoot part 2

Depending on the time of year you’ve chosen to marry and indeed the time of your ceremony it may be dark when you’re wedding breakfast is over or we may be blessed with a golden hour and a beautiful sunset. Either way, lets go outside for a few more photos of you both. It’s nice to walk off your wedding meal, grab some fresh air and set yourself up for the evening celebrations.
Chapter 9- Cake cut and first dance.

I’ve put these to together as most of the time they happen one after the other. Your cake cut is the sign that the evening celebrations are beginning. Guests will be invited up to gather around as you slice into your wedding cake, make a wish for the future and then head for the dance floor. I set up additional flashes for your first dance photos just to give them a party look but I do also take close ups of you both and then your guests as they join you on the dance floor. I’m never in a rush to leave so if you wanted night time photos after your first dance that’s not a problem and I’m also happy to stay if the dance floor is full.
Chapter 10- Editing your photos.

Once I get home I upload and backup your photos three times so they are safe. Once I have 4 copies I begin to edit some highlights for your sneak peek. Typically around 50 photos are edited the same evening and are ready to upload to social media the next morning. These photos will be watermarked and I also share them with your chosen wedding suppliers. We are all very much invested in your wedding day and really there’s only me that’s gets to see it through to the end so your hairdresser and makeup artist will love to see how the day went. I will endeavour to have your full gallery delivered to you within 3 weeks of your wedding day. You will receive your wedding photographs via a digital gallery and the access code allows you a full download of all edited images taken from your day. Your gallery download is available in high resolution and typically contains around 600 photos from the day. If you or your wedding guests and family wish to purchase prints or wall art this can be done from here. Printing is important, the way we view media changes so quickly but prints are a steadfast which is why I’ll ask you to choose photos for your wedding album, giving you a permanent keepsake of your most special of days. I do all my own editing, I don’t want AI robots, or people for that matter, deleting photos that depict what I personally know was a special moment. As a result all culling and editing of every single photo taken receives my personal attention.
The Epilogue -Your Wedding Album

From your gallery you can create a favourites list which I can access and this is where you choose the photos you would like in your wedding album. All my full day collections now include either a photobook or a wedding album. Wedding albums provide a physical keepsake that can be passed down through generations. They serve as a visual representation of every chapter of your story. They are a way to share and commemorate your special day with family and friends who were unable to attend the wedding. Your wedding album is carefully curated and designed by myself, ensuring that your photos are presented in the best possible way. The album allows you to see your wedding photos in a beautifully laid out format that tells a story, rather than just as a collection of individual images.
That’s a small insight into how I work on a wedding day. The most important thing to remember is that this is your day and not mine. I will be led by you and your ideas but am equally happy, confident and capable of stepping in as much as needed to help your day go your way. In conclusion, as a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, my goal is to create beautiful, authentic, and timeless images that tell your unique love story. I am passionate about capturing the raw emotion and essence of your day. If you think you like the sound of how I work and would like to see more of my work then you can do that here or if you’d like to find out if I have your date available then do please contact me.
