Egton Manor
Egton Manor has been home to the Foster family since 1869 and they now open up their Grade ll listed house for weddings. Part of a 6000 acre estate the Manor sits on the edge of the North York moors and in the pretty village of Egton.
Hosting a limited number of weddings a year means the focus on making your day unique and individual to you is paramount. Cosy autumn and winter weddings can enjoy roaring open log fires. Those that choose the summer months can take full advantage of this tranquil riverside setting and enjoy outdoor entertainment and the beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside.
Egton Manor has several locations licenced to hold your wedding ceremony. You may choose to marry in a local church and head to the house to begin your wedding celebrations. If you and your wedding guests are wanting to stay over there is an abundance of choice. The River Lodge with it’s outdoor copper bath and romantic fire is the perfect setting for your wedding night. Guests will enjoy the Courtyard Rooms or Manor cottage. All will enjoy a hearty breakfast from locally sourced suppliers.
I will join you on the morning of your wedding some 2 hours before your ceremony begins. This precious time of you getting ready, the details , the dress and shoes are all must have photos. Nervous giggles, prosecco toasts and hair and makeup photos are taken in a candid, reportage style with no need for posing. This is one of my favourite parts of the day. I’m always on hand to calm your nerves and even help fasten your dress and shoes if needed.

Your wedding ceremony, be that a church service or with a registrar is photographed in an unobtrusive manner. I don’t use flashes and I do love an unplugged ceremony. I want to see and photograph your guests faces and not their phones. Encourage them be really be in the moment with you at this very special time.

Family photos are very important especially to parents and grandparents. They don’t have to take up huge amounts of your wedding day if we’re organised. I will have sent you a wedding questionnaire in the weeks leading up to your wedding day. Here you can write down any photos you’d like and in particular group and family photos. I will ask a bridesmaid or groomsman to assist in the gathering up for these pictures then they’re done quickly.

As your guests are enjoying a welcome drink and canapes served by the fabulous wedding team we can go for a wander around this fabulous setting for some couples photos of you both.
Egton Manor has extensive grounds and unlimited locations for your photos. The River Esk runs alongside the venue. Well established gardens with ancient stone work all make fabulous backdrops for your wedding portraits. If you would like we can head up onto the North York Moors. Alternatively if you have somewhere special in mind I’m always happy for you to jump in my car. Couples tell me afterwards how much they enjoyed having this little bit of time away for themselves.
My portrait photos are very relaxed and nothing at all to feel nervous about. Gentle posing, a few little tricks and prompts to make you laugh and you end up with beautiful yet natural looking photos that will take pride of place in your wedding album.

Egton Manor is tastefully decorated in neutral tones and looks perfect as is. Alternatively it can be decorated to fit the theme and colour of your day to make it uniquely you. They have carefully selected the very finest of Yorkshires caterers who will accommodate your ideas. Anything from a picnic style buffet through to a seven course tasting menu.

With guests gathered for your wedding breakfast and speeches this is the perfect time for candid photos. Everyone is relaxed and this is where documentary style photography comes into it’s own.

A bit of a breather and some fresh Yorkshire air is always nice after your meal. Egton Manor often sees stunning sunsets. This is when I really enjoy getting the flashes out for some night time photos. These are a big hit with wedding couples and it takes just a few minutes to get some real wow photos. Sparkler exits are very popular at the moment. Guests can rekindle their childhoods writing their names in the air.

Cutting your wedding cake and then heading onto the floor for your first dance is the very beginning of a fabulous evening. Hopefully your guests will join you part way through or after your dance and then I can stay and get some dance floor action photos.

Once I’ve checked you have everything you need I’ll head off home to edit some sneak peek photos. I will share these the very next day and you can use them to announce your marriage to the world if you wish. My full day packages all include coverage from preps though to first dance. Also a downloadable gallery of your high resolution, fully edited photos and either a photobook or wedding album. You can find more details on my packages on my pricing page. If you are planning your wedding at Egton Manor do please get in touch for a chat about your wedding photographs.
