Whinstone View wedding venue
Whinstone View is situated just outside Great Ayton in North Yorkshire and is just a 2 minute drive from the famous Roseberry Topping. Whinstone View is nestled in 14 acres of grounds and has 14 Scandinavian Lodges and a bistro. At the heart of the site is Wrays Barn.
Wrays Barn was built to give your wedding day rustic charm and elegance whilst fitting in well with it’s surroundings. Having full exclusive use you can enjoy your wedding day in full privacy whilst enjoying the acres of space around you in this idyllic North Yorkshire setting.
Wrays Barn can cater for upto 150 guests, inside the room transforms from a wedding ceremony set up to a romantic wedding breakfast room. Wooden tables and chairs sit in a neutrally decorated room ready for you to add as much colour as you wish to fit with the theme of your day.
The venue has an extensive menu which caters to all tastes and is of a very high standard. You may choose to have a traditional wedding breakfast, a barbeque or an elegant afternoon tea.
If you have chosen to stay the night before your wedding you have a choice of lodges. What a perfect place to have a sleepover with your bridesmaids. You can enjoy a hot tub evening, a pamper session a fabulous supper and a glass or two of prosecco before getting a comfortable nights sleep leaving you ready for the day ahead.
I will join you in your lodge 2 hours before your wedding ceremony. These candid photographs are a must for the first pages of your wedding album. Relaxed photos of you all as you have your wedding hair and makeup done, photos of your dress, your shoes and all those little details you put so much thought into. If your partner is getting ready here I can also photograph their prep photos. Additionally you can add a second photographer to your wedding package.

Your ceremony will be set up and you can either leave this neutral or decorate it to make your day uniquely you. The light floods in through the high windows and as a result the warm lighting adds a beautiful ambience to your photos.
The wedding ceremony, for me, is the heart of your day. Watching couples say their vows in front of family and friends is very special. Nervous laughter, maybe some tears and then the joy of being able to say we’re married ! I will photograph your ceremony from the top of the aisle ready to catch not just these moments but also the reactions from your guests. Once you have said your wedding vows you will take a seat to sign the register and your guests will love the opportunity to photograph this. As you walk back down the aisle you’ll be met by one of the wedding team who will have a celebratory drink waiting for you.
At this point in the day, if you head outside your guests will want to offer their congratulations to you both. Perhaps you’ve brought confetti for your wedding. Setting up a people lined tunnel for you to walk through as guests confetti rains down is a fabulous double spread photo for your wedding album.
This is the point where I like to do your group and family photos. Luckily have a captive audience so we can do these quickly and efficiently. No need to keep anyone standing around for too long. I’ll have asked you for a list of any family and friend photos you’d like. By asking a bridesmaid or groomsmen to assist it’s a quick and painless process. It’s important to get those all important photos that record who was with you on this day.
As your wedding guests get themselves a welcome drink maybe you’d like to wander off and have some couples photos. This isn’t a staged shoot but just natural looking photos of you both. I will guide you into gentle, natural poses to get some photos of the two of you together. My couples tell me afterwards that they loved this time away to just be by themselves for a short while.
As you return to your wedding party I take candid photos of whatever you may be doing. Maybe you’ve hired a magician or garden games. Perhaps you’re just enjoying the company of the people you’ve invited and are happy to just sit and chat away.
Your wedding breakfast room will be dressed and ready. After the guests are seated you’ll be announced into the room to a standing ovation and cheers of delight. Whatever you’ve chosen for your wedding breakfast will be a delight. Having been the recipient of meals at previous Wrays Barn weddings I can confirm, the food is outstanding.
Your wedding speeches are photographed and also the guests reactions. The perfect wedding speech is not too long and not too short. A mixture of funny stories and heart warming memories. I love wedding speeches and have heard some truly wonderful ones over the years.
Wrays Barn often sees the most beautiful sunsets. It’s often nice to have a walk out after your wedding meal. A breath of fresh air will set you up nicely for the evening celebrations. If you’d like to we can jump in my car and have some photographs under Roseberry topping. This fabulous North Yorkshire landmarks is just a 2 minute drive away.
Cake cutting time is a much loved chance for your guests to photograph you. You may find yourself standing, knife in hand while everyone grabs their phones. Following this you can head of to the dance floor to start the evening reception with your first dance. With your dance floor full of revellers I’m always happy to stay and photograph the action. Then it’s time for me to head home to begin your editing.
A sneak peek of photographs will be available to you via social media the very next morning. Additionally I will edit and deliver your full wedding gallery within 3 weeks. From here you can choose which of your wedding photos will take pride of place in your photobook or album. I’m a great believer in having a keepsake of your wedding day that you can share and pass down to future generations.
